A week or two ago, we went to Vegas to look for a place to live (we move in a week and two days...eeeek). We drove down, left one of our cars with Michael's parents, and flew back.
Oh also, the first night in the hotel was a complete disaster. I'm pretty sure we all got about 4 hours of sleep. The kids were not happy about sleeping in a new place, so the next day they slept every time we went in the car. The 2nd night in our hotel, Grammy (Michael's mom) slept with Alex in the living room (it was a 1 bedroom suite) so he did fine, and Myra was a million times better as well. Our last night in the hotel, Michael ended up sleeping with Alex and thankfully all was well.
We had tons of fun visiting with family while we were there. We basically just hung out and let the kids play, but it was so nice. And Lori provided us with some delicious dinners, so hopefully I'll learn a few tricks from her when we move! ;) On Saturday night we walked over to a little fall carnival that was going on. The kids had SO MUCH FUN. They had the huge blow-up slides, and Michael took Alex on it probably 4-5 times. At first he wasn't so sure about it, but by the end he just had the biggest smile on his face. The slide was definitely Alex's highlight. Ethan (my nephew) went around and tried EVERYTHING, and loved every part of it. I'm not sure if he had a favorite:) Addison (my niece) for sure loved the swings the most. It was so fun watching her, because she just had the biggest smile on her face! Her favorite was one where two people could sit in it, and as you were swinging around in a circle you could make the seat spin as well (kind of like those tea cups at Disneyland?). You guys, if you could have seen her face it would have made your day. It was the cutest thing.
Ok so now for the airport story. It was NUTS when we got there, because at about 4am that morning, all of Southwest's computers crashed. The line to check your bags/print out your boarding pass was 2+ hours long!!! YIKES. A kind worker who was directing traffic saw us, and told us to try to go through the handicap line since we were hauling two kids and two carseats and our bags. I'm so grateful he did, because we definitely didn't have to wait for over two hours. The people were so nice, but I felt so bad for them! It was seriously a madhouse. And while Michael and I were stressing out and trying to get where we needed to go, of course Myra had a blow-out. Alex was super needy for me (he was tired, and while walking he had fallen a few times) so Michael had to change her while she screamed. Getting through security was a piece of cake, especially since they let us go through the handicap line again (thank you!!!) and then we were finally able to sit down and catch our breath. The flight itself was easy. Alex slept, and Myra played. I think I had to feed her on the flight too, but that wasn't a big deal.
We made it home safe and sound and successfully found a place to live. We are almost packed and completely ready to go! I can't believe this is really happening!
