Summary
In this story, Sally and her brother are responsible for shoveling snow while their mom went to town for the day. They're outside working when suddenly, the Cat in the Hat comes walking along and runs into their house! The boy follows the Cat inside and finds him eating cake in the tub with both the hot and cold water turned on. The boy gets mad and turns off the water, only to find a pink ring around the tub. The Cat cleans the ring by using their mom's white dress. He removes the pink from the dress by putting the pink on the wall. The pink spot then moves from the wall to their dad's $10 shoes, to the rug in the hall, and to their parent's bed. since the stain was too hard to remove from the bed, he lifts up his hat and has Little Cats to help him. First he brings out Little Cat A, who has Little Cat B, who has Little Cat C. Those three cats move the pink spot with a broom from the bed, to the TV--cleaned with milk and a pan, then Little Cat C used a fan to blow the pink spot out of the house onto the snow. Now the spot was way to hard to clean, so each Little Cat lifts up his hat to reveal another cat--the next letter in the alphabet--all the way down to Z. Eventually, the pink spot is completely covering all the snow, so the Cat in the Hat tells Little Cat Z to lift up his hat and use his secret power--Voom. Voom cleans up all the snow and their work is all finished! The Cat in the Hat takes back his Little Cats and leaves the children, offering to come back anytime they need help cleaning up spots.

The illustrations in this book are all done by Dr. Seuss. He has a very different style of illustrating. The colors are very simple. Black, White, Blue, Red, and of course Pink. The pictures are very simple, yet so different and interesting that kids will love them.

My Reaction
I love this book! My parents read it to me when I was younger, and I loved reading it again now as an adult. The rhyme is wonderful and it keeps you going throughout the story. The pictures are different but they keep your attention. Overall it's a great book; I loved it.

Recommendations
I would strongly recommend that parents read this book to their children. It's such a fun book! It has rhyme, fun adventures, even the alphabet. Kids would love the storyline of this book and the pictures that are in it.

Problems/Conflicts
I didn't see too many problems with this book. The only thing some people may not like is that the Cat in the Hat gets into all kinds of mischief. However, the problem is all resolved in the end and he makes up for his initial mistake.
